Speakers were Douglas Shire CEO Mark Stoermer, Douglas Shire Sustainability Group member and former Douglas Shire Mayor, Mike Berwick and Mossman High School student and environmental advocate Caitlin Nulty. Caitlin was responsible in getting single use straws removed from the school but they were replaced by straws that are NOT biodegradable. Oh well the battle goes on. A suggestion from the audience was for Caitlin to contact the Parents & Citizens Association at the school as they might be able to speed up the wheels of bureaucracy. Good luck Caitlin with your future efforts in saving the planet.
