Ahead of a major announcement on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy on Friday, the European Parliament has outlined its priorities for the sector.
MEPs want member states to be able to adapt the CAP to their needs and reject any ‘renationalisation’ , saying that could distort competition in the Single Market.
Parliament is also looking for direct payments to continue to be fully financed from the EU budget.
