Mid-Session 19 Mar 18: Aussie market fading from early gains

Local shares were off to a buoyant start but have faded towards lunch with the ASX 200 up 5pts or 0.1% at 5954pts. The mining and energy sectors have been the main contributor to early market strength with Wesfarmers the main weight following its decision on Friday to spin-off Coles from the remainder of the business.
