Mid-Session 12 Oct 18: Sell-off stalls as IT & mining stocks recover

The local sharemarket is down a touch on Friday, with gains from the Materials, Healthcare and IT sectors helping to stem the losses. The ASX 200 has plunged about 5% so far this week, its worst weekly performance since January 2016.
