Wiregrass Daily News had the opportunity to chat with Brandon Shoupe, Chairman of the Houston County Commission, this morning about his role as Chairman, and his intentions to seek re-election in 2026. Shoupe, who began his public service career as the District 4 Commissioner in 2014, served in that role for six years before being elected Commission Chairman.
Shoupe shared insights into his responsibilities as chairman and his dedication to serving the people of Houston County. He emphasized a leadership approach grounded in accountability, strategic planning, and a commitment to improving quality of life for all residents.
Shoupe identified key areas of concern across the county, particularly education, and public safety, and healthcare. He noted that while Houston County has made progress in many areas, some communities continue to face unique challenges that require focused attention and targeted resources.
To address these issues, Shoupe has helped organize a task force dedicated to developing and implementing long-term solutions.
As he looks ahead to the 2026 election, Shoupe plans to continue building on the foundation laid during his time in office. He aims to ensure that Houston County remains a place where communities can thrive.
