Former peat power areas of Ireland will benefit from a new EU fund for greening the economy, says Sean Kelly. The European Parliament is expected to back the so-called ‘Just Transition Fund’ in the vote this evening. The €17.5 billion package is designed to help transform areas reliant on fossil fuels by creating new green jobs and helping businesses shift to renewable technologies. Fine Gael MEP, Sean Kelly, says for Ireland the money will be vital for transforming our peat industry as burning is phased out.
