CMC 2015 - Play, Make and Share: Inspiring Creativity

As creativity is increasingly squeezed out of formal education how can children’s media inspire and enable children to express themselves and learn through making and sharing?

Kids are claiming back their education.  They’re nurturing their own passions, finding their own spaces, making their own choices, publishing for themselves and looking to their peer groups for recognition.  With all this going on, seemingly unbounded from any formal educational processes, what’s the place for the producers and broadcasters of children’s media within this landscape?

To help debate this topic the session brings together a panel of people who are passionately involved in enabling children to create and share – be that through films, stories or games.  We’ll be quizzing them on the tools and techniques they’re using to inspire these kids, how this fits within the current ecosystem of education and child development, and discuss the successes, challenges and prophecies for the future.
