Father, THANK YOU for being the God who chases us until we find You. We’re so glad You are discoverable and that we still get to discover new things about You every day!But we confess that we love our autonomy. Like Asa, we often treat You like our last resort, if we come to You at all. Sometimes we resist rebukes and consequences or take our anger with You out on others. And we repent. Father,

THANK YOU for being the God who chases us until we find You. We’re so glad You are discoverable and that we still get to discover new things about You every day!

But we confess that we love our autonomy. Like Asa, we often treat You like our last resort, if we come to You at all. Sometimes we resist rebukes and consequences or take our anger with You out on others. And we repent. Have mercy on me, a sinner.

Whatever the high places are in our own hearts, God, we ask You to remove them. Give us the discernment to recognize them and the strength to destroy them. Direct our steps to seek You first and to depend on You. If dependence on You is our goal, then our weakness is our greatest advantage. We need You, God.

We surrender our lives to You, Lord—every need, each decision—we yield our will and way to Your perfect will and way.

We love You too. Amen.
