AM Report 23 Mar 18: Trade fears push DOW down 724pts, S&P500 off 2.5%

US sharemarkets fell on Thursday on fears that a trade war could be ignited by fresh tariffs proposed by the US President to be applied on China. Shares in Facebook fell 2.7% on a reported data breach although chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said he was open to additional government regulation and was happy to testify before Congress. The Dow Jones index closed lower by 724 points or 2.9%. The S&P 500 index fell by 2.5%. The Nasdaq fell by 179 points or 1.8%.
