Extraordinary deficits for an extraordinary time

Stephen Halmarick, Chief Economist and Belinda Allen, Senior Economist discuss the July Economic and Fiscal Update released on 23 July. The size of the deficits and increase in Australian government debt are large and must be placed in context of the economic situation Australia is currently experiencing. Stephen and Belinda also discuss the importance of thinking about the economic return on this debt, the economic forecasts as well as what we could expect from the October budget.
