A women’s ministry leader shares her path to becoming a marriage coach and the advice she gives women in her wives' bible study. What is biblical coaching and training for wives? - We need training in how to encourage and exhort one another day by day. Paul said, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Biblical coaching is a powerful way to help wives fulfill their potential. 

 

What about women’s ministries that seem to perpetuate and promote a husband’s expectation of his wife’s subservience? -   Imagine if we taught our girls from a young age that it’s not about serving their husbands; it’s about living out their own destinies as created by God for His glory! That is at least one way we can change the culture for our daughters and granddaughters.

 

What does healthy communication look like? - We need to speak into our relationships, and we also need to listen. If a couple is struggling with communication, they should first look inward: how can they become better listeners? Do they interrupt each other too much? Are there things that trigger defensiveness in them? We can’t expect others to change if we’re not willing to look at our own behaviors and attitudes. With that said, healthy communication goes both ways.
