Not only is the British actor Emma Thompson versatile with the roles she plays, but her versatility extends to being an accomplished screenwriter as well. Indeed, she has won Academy Awards as both an actor and screenwriter. HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano begin this episode by discussing how Thompson was born into a family in which her father was a TV and stage director, while her mother was an actor. Thompson further immersed herself in show business in college theater groups. She was certainly primed for her early stage and screen collaborations with then-husband Kenneth Branagh, among them "Henry V" (1989). Marie and Mike discuss career highlights including "Howards End" (1992), "The Remains of the Day" (1993), "Sense and Sensibility" (1995), "Love Actually" (2003), "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004) and its sequels, "Saving Mr. Banks" (2013) and "Late Night" (2019).
