02_The Model Prayer

Prayer is an exercise of the heart.

David said, "Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek." He understood that the utterances of his mouth were meaningless if they were not from the heart.

In the model prayer Jesus teaches us that we must pray from the heart, we must believe with the heart in order to pray, and we must engage the heart if prayer is to be effectual.
