In this part of the letter, Nichiren discusses the karmic relationships of "self" with parents and ancestors and uses the Sutra texts for scholarship on the matter. We are an amalgam of energies formed within the history of our ancestors beginning with our parents. We modify and influence that amalgam through the future.
