Morning Report 7 Feb 22: US sharemarkets mixed but tech earnings drive rally in the Nasdaq and US jobs data beat expectations

US sharemarkets ended mixed on Friday. Shares in Amazon rebounded by 13.5% in response to its earnings result after falling by 7.8% the previous day. And strong jobs data buoyed investor sentiment. At the close, the Dow Jones index was down by 21 points or 0.1%. But the S&P 500 index rose by 0.5%. And the Nasdaq index rose by 219 points or 1.6%. Over the week the Dow rose 1.0% with the S&P 500 up 1.6% and the Nasdaq up 2.4%.
