US Close 18 Dec 18: Stocks slump to 9-month lows

The US sharemarket has slumped by more than 2% in continued volatile trade as Christmas approaches. Investors remained focused on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision on Thursday and the potential for a partial US government shutdown at the end of this week. All 30 stocks making up the Dow Jones lost ground which sets our market up for losses on the open.
