Morning Report 18 Dec 19: US stocks consolidate within sight of recent record highs

US sharemarkets hovered near record highs on Tuesday as US factory and housing data beat market expectations. An hour before the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was up by around 62 points or 0.2%. The S&P500 index rose by around 0.1% and the Nasdaq was higher by around 9 points or 0.1%.
