Women on boards to become EU law

Women must make up at least one-third of director position by 2026 under a new EU law. The law also requires 40 per cent of non-executive directors must be women. It will apply to all companies in Europe with at least 250 employees. In Ireland, women now comprise 36 per cent of executives at board level, according to a report published this week. Fine Gael MEP and former Tánaiste, Frances Fitzgerald, says the law will greatly improve equality.
