US Market Close 1 Oct 18:a flat end to a strong quarter for US stocks

 US sharemarkets were flat to firmer on Friday. The Dow Jones index finished higher by 18 points or 0.1%. The S&P 500 index was flat and the Nasdaq gained 4 points or 0.1%. Over the week the Dow fell 1.1% but the Nasdaq gained 0.7%. Over the month the Dow gained 1.9% and rose 9% over the quarter. The Nasdaq fell 0.8% in the month but rose 7.1% in the quarter.
