Many people wonder if the way in which their grief manifests itself is wrong or abnormal. Feeling as if you are grieving wrong, or not enough, or not in the right way, happens to everyone. Grief support is a good example that however the grief over the loss of a loved one, is not something you are going through completely alone. Everyone who has lost someone has felt shame or anxiety over what they think is an inappropriate way of dealing with grief. But, how you deal with grief, as long as you are not harming yourself or others, is okay. If you break into tears at the grocery store or feel elated by a memory of a lost love one and worry that joy defies your grief, you aren't alone. There is no one acceptable way to express grief. Don't be ashamed to feel what you feel in the wake of a loss and if it is something seemingly very strange, that's okay. You won't be the first person to feel what you are feeling.
