This episode comes from an anecdote in a small book I have in my library. It is a little poem that was found on a tombstone. It made me think of these things. I made the post about this in the We Talk Truth Group. Here is the post containing the anecdote:

Seen on a tombstone in a cemetery....

"Remember, friend, as you pass by,

As you are now, so once was I;

As I am now, you soon will be;

So prepare to die and follow me."

Someone had taken a black crayon and written underneath...

"To follow you, I'm not content;

Until I learn which way you went!"
