25. From Pain to Purpose

Today’s conversation is with Anisa Fowler who is an international gospel singer.  Anisa has a powerful voice and a powerful message.  I loved this conversation and her wisdom on what she referred to as “Church Hurt”.  She talks about how people are fallible and sometimes people mishandle others but that is distinct and separate from an individual’s relationship with the divine. As someone who struggles with her own experiences with organized religion this conversation opened my eyes to another perspective.

And while we were talking Anisa said “wherever you shine your truth it should not diminish someone else’s being”, and I have been thinking about that ever since we recorded.  What if we made that the new Golden Rule?  Shine bright, live your truth, just don’t try to take other’s down when you do that.  I loved that message and it is going to stay with me for many years.
