Monday of the 12th Week in Ordinary Time
Jesus teaches about condemnation: “Stop judging, that you may not be judged.” “Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?”
Fr. O’Mullane preaches on this, saying that, far from restricting our faculties of judgment, Christ is warning us not to let this lead to condemnation. Christ is speaking especially against the sort of condemnation which divides a community, leaving the community in a “circular firing squad.” Jesus steps in the middle of this to call us back to our vocation, and to look to God, so that we can be a light to the nations.
