Morning Report 2 Feb 22: ASX 200 to push higher following continued improvement on Wall St

US sharemarkets were higher on Tuesday. The energy sector rose 3.6% to record highs after Exxon Mobil (+6.5%) posted its biggest quarterly profit in seven years. Shares in United Parcel Service rose 14% after projecting 2022 revenue above market expectations. At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was up 273 points or 0.8%. The S&P 500 index rose 0.7%. And the Nasdaq index rose by 106 points or 0.8%.

US long-term treasuries fell on Tuesday (yields higher) in response to mixed economic data. US 10-year yields rose 1 point to near 1.80%. And US 2-year yields were flat near 1.17%.
