Part 1 of The Battle Of The Aisne covers the pullback of the German 1st and 2nd Army from the Marne to the River Aisne. Kluck and Bulow desperately needed to close the gap that was created in the Battle of the Marne. The BEF and the French are unexpectedly walking into German defensive positions.
