Mid-Session 6 Oct 17: Market charges higher; ASX 200 eyes 5,700

The ASX 200 is up 0.8% or 43 points to 5,695, boosted by strong gains from Wall Street which racked up an 8th straight session of gains overnight to again close at fresh record highs.
