This week, the DC Comics villain-based film Joker, which is more Taxi Driver than Batman, opens in theatres everywhere, and everyone, from exhibitors to police forces, are on guard for trouble by people that get the wrong inspiration from the movie. Is the reaction overblown, and how are the creators dealing with the controversy?
No Friends of Mine. This fall is the 25th anniversary of the premiere of Friends, an NBC sitcom about six pals who live impossibly affluent lives in New York City despite their socio-economic status. The reaction to 25 years of Friends has been a little over the top so are we overthinking the impact of the show, and are they really still there for you?
May the Feige Be With You. It's a Hollywood crossover! Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is producing a Star Wars movie, which is part of a company-wide attempt to reboot after the release of The Rise of Skywalker later this year. What will Feige bring to this franchise? We'll discuss that, and why George Lucas felt betrayed by Disney when he sold them Star Wars in 2012?
Jurassic Hurl. The three stars of the original Jurassic Park - Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum - are all returning to the third chapter of Jurassic World. This would be cool, if it weren't for the fact that the franchise seemed to burn all good will by the end of Fallen Kingdom. So do we care?
REVIEW: Between Two Ferns the Movie (2019). You may know Zach Galifianakis, star of the Hangover movies, but do you know Zach Galifianakis, cable access host of the seventh most popular interview show in North Carolina? This feature length spin-off of the Funny-or-Die series is a road show as Zach and his team try to complete 10 interviews in two weeks to suit the fickle whims of Hollywood mogul Will Ferrell (?). Celebrity cameos abound though!
