We are joined today by two couples who got married using Wedfuly, and Caroline Creidenberg - Founder and CEO.
Wedfuly started in 2017 with a mission to use technology to democratize the wedding industry via online wedding planning.
When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, they innovated to help their couples navigate their plans. One Zoom wedding later, they were onto something! Since then, they’ve planned and produced hundreds of virtual weddings.
Big Takeaways
For Kelly and Joe, they decided to have a hybrid-wedding. They had about 20 in-person guests, prioritizing family, and the rest were invited virtually. Using zoom, they were able to have so much interaction, and really enjoy the day with the guests all over the world. In the end, the people that were sad about not being there in person found that the way Wedfuly set up the day made everyone feel very included and in the moment.
Kat and Han had completely planned and booked their wedding before the pandemic hit. They decided to cancel everything, and move the party to their backyard. Instead of rescheduling, it felt better to just switch the plans. Kat admits it was very very hard to make this decision, but ultimately was happy they went through with the changes. Her biggest tip was to feel the sadness, ugly cry, and then move on. Don’t avoid the mourning of that loss. Through working with Wedfuly, they were able to make a day that felt so complete, and included everyone, even those far away.
A virtual wedding does not have to be a passive guest event. Wedfuly encourages the guests to dress up, turn cameras on, and be involved as much as possible throughout the day. The guests log in about 30 minutes before the wedding, and the team is able to help with any technical issues, share video and photos, and help them get settled before the big event starts.
After the ceremony, they make time for an intermission. This is a good time for the guests to refill their drinks, use the rest room, etc. Wedfuly started as a virtual wedding planning service, but Caroline and her team adjusted quickly and started hosting full-virtual weddings. In 2020, they did over 500!
Wedfuly is 100% virtual, so they require the couple to have a person on-site available as a contact. Some couples hire professional audio/video companies to have an elevated video experience.
