Morning Report 10 Jun 20: US sharemarkets were mixed on Tuesday

Investors are awaiting word from the US Federal Reserve about yield curve control and negative interest rates, subjects of broad speculation, after its policy meeting ends on Wednesday. The Nasdaq briefly rose above 10,000 points in trading to an all-time intra-day high. Apple (+3.2%) shares rose to record highs on reports that its preparing to announce a shift to its own main processors in Mac computers. But investor concerns over valuations and economic prospects pushed shares lower. The Dow Jones index fell by 300 points or 1.1%. The S&P500 index fell by 0.8%. But the Nasdaq index was up 29 points or 0.3%.
