US mid-session 9 Mar 18: American shares volatile ahead of tariff details

US sharemarkets are volatile but largely quiet ahead of President Trump’s tariff press conference. Investors and traders will be paying close attention to details. The European Central Bank decided to keep rates on hold but tweaked the wording on bond buying.
