First Sunday of Advent December 3, 2017

Worship Focus: As we prepare for the Savior’s advent, he points us in today’s Gospel to John, the voice from the desert urging us to prepare the way of the Lord. Isaiah tells us that when the Messiah comes the desert will bloom and “the burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs.”  God’s forgiveness brings life to hearts parched by sin and water to the desert of our self-righteousness. In the Second Lesson the Apostle James counsels patience as we wait for our Savior to come.
