US Close 2 Aug 19: Shares slump on Trump tariff threat

It was an extremely volatile session for US markets with the Dow Jones giving back a 1.1% rise by finishing down 1% on Thursday. President Trump’s threat of a fresh 10% tariff on $300bn of Chinese imports was the catalyst.
