At the end of the day you want to earn attention and convince someone that you're worth paying attention to. To do that you need to understand your audience on an intimate level.

People make decisions emotionally 90% of the time. So by aligning with them and showing them that you speak their language and you're trying to solve their problem, you're going to be way more effective, faster.
