Morning Report 15 May 20: US sharemarkets rose on Thursday

US President Trump told Fox Business that he didn't want to speak to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping and "we could cut off the whole relationship." But hopes for a reopening of the US economy were boosted after the Wisconsin Supreme Court invalidated the state's COVID-19 stay-at-home order. A White House spokeswoman also said President Trump is open to another possible stimulus bill. Shares of Cisco rose by 4.5% after its earnings beat expectations. Wells Fargo shares lifted by 6.8%. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was up by 377 points or 1.6%. The S&P500 index was higher by 1.2% and the Nasdaq index rose by 80 points or 0.9%.
