Research indicates that one in five Americans are suffering from persistent or chronic loneliness. Dr. Leonard Zunin, a Los Angeles psychiatrist, asserts that mankind's biggest problem is loneliness.

It is not surprising that God addresses a problem of this magnitude in His Word. You don’t have to read far in Scripture to learn that God never designed humans to be lonely – that is not His will and intent for us.

Loneliness is not a topic we like to talk about. We feel a sense of embarrassment if we admit that we are lonely, but loneliness is a universal human experience. Everyone experiences loneliness, single or married, for a brief period or for prolonged seasons. The beautiful truth of this passage of Scripture is that God cares about the lonely, and He supplies the answer to our loneliness.
