Meet Mark Van Mourick, Founding Partner Optivest Wealth Management

Mark is the Founding Partner of Optivest Wealth Management and has managed the investment portfolios of several of the nation’s wealthiest families. Mark established Optivest in 1987 and has grown the firm’s managed portfolios to about 40 highly successful families through building strategic, diversified portfolios for his clients targeting low volatility and consistent growth.

Mark has four decades of experience as a Money Manager and Registered Investment Advisor. Prior to opening his own firm, he was one of the youngest Senior Vice Presidents and Partners at Smith Barney. Mark leads Optivest by example, defining common corporate goals focused on integrity in all aspects of the business, excellent client satisfaction and an environment of high moral consciousness and generosity.

In addition to his expertise in stocks and finance, Mark has extensive experience in business and real estate. He co-founded a national REIT and took it public on the New York Stock Exchange. He is also the author of Cash Out, Cash In – The After Success Investment Guide as well as an experienced investor in a wide variety of investment vehicles including private equity, hedge funds and venture capitals. Mark founded the Orange County Exit Planning Roundtable that includes a team of experienced advisors in the specialty disciplines necessary to guide entrepreneurs preparing to sell their business.

Mark is a member of Tiger 21, CEG Worldwide and a graduate of the Institute of Preparing Heirs®specializing in successful wealth transfer to heirs of affluent families. Mark holds various FINRA licenses including FINRA Series 7, Series 63 and Series 24, is a graduate of the University of Southern California with dual Bachelor of Arts Degrees in International Finance and Business Management. He serves on the executive boards of numerous public and private entities and is an active speaker.

Mark is passionate about legacy planning and heir preparation, and often finds a great fit with those guided by faith seeking to impact others with generous giving. Further, Mark has decades of experience in advanced planning for wealth enhancement, wealth transfer, wealth protection and charitable giving.

In addition to his business achievements, Mark is Founder and President of The Optivest Foundation, which donates hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to Christian ministries focused on improving the lives of children and families. Under Mark’s direction, Optivest Wealth Management, Optivest Properties and Optivest Investment Banking donate 10% of gross annual revenue to charities around the world. He is passionate about cultivating generous giving habits by encouraging clients to pursue philanthropic endeavors that bring them joy, independently or through the vehicle of a personal or family foundation.
