Market Close 10 Jan 20: Records tumble for Aussie shares

Local shares have hit fresh record highs on Friday as investor confidence returns as Middle East tensions subside. The ASX 200 rose 55 points or 0.8% and broke through the 6900 point mark for the first time ever, hitting intraday highs, while also finishing with a second consecutive record close at 6929.
