The EU-Canada Trade Deal known as CETA is a flawed deal that will negatively impact on Irish farmers, the Irish economy and the democratic system. That’s the grim prognosis of the Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy. He was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg which today voted in favour of the landmark Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement. The deal will remove most tariffs on goods and services between Canada and the EU. Supporters of CETA say it will boost EU economies and create jobs. However, Matt Carthy says he’s very disappointed the deal was passed by MEPs.
