Following Memorial Day, we explore with Pauline Lubens, Ph.D. candidate at U.C.I.'s Dept. of Public Health, her work dealing with the ravages of war on public health and the design of her dissertation studying grief among combat veterans who have lost friends with whom they have served. We hope to have her return to the program when her findings have been published. During the second segment, Irvine City Council Member Melissa Fox returns to the show to take us behind the scenes as she fields a plethora of official municipal and regional duties.
