Ep 25: Where Small Brands Have A MASSIVE Advantage W/ Garrath Robinson

When you begin to grow and scale your company there are lots of opportunities for growth - but there are just as many opportunities to lose connection with your brand and audience. 

 

In this episode Alex is joined by Garrath Robinson, CEO & Founder of No Shade Co. No Shade Co. is an outdoor lifestyle brand that is geared towards those with a spirit of independence, adventure and the pursuit of happiness through living an active lifestyle.

Garrath started No Shade Co. when he broke a $200 pair of RayBans while playing baseball. He spent three months doing in-depth market research. What I found was one company owned 80% of the market.

So after digging a little more and what he found was that many of the $200-$300 branded sunglasses were being made in Chinese factories for pennies on the dollar.

Now, we're all fans of economies-of-scale, but "pennies" to manufacture $200 shades? Something wasn't adding up.

So, Garrath decided to design my his shades and test them. He ordered their first batch in June of 2019 and quickly found that people really liked the quality and style of our sunglasses. From there the idea for No Shade Co. has been shining bright.
