US Close 2 May 19: Fed meeting pushes market lower

It was an eventful session for US markets last night, with US stocks hitting record highs before sliding by as much as 0.75%. The catalyst was a comment by Fed chair Jerome Powell which was interpreted by the market as a sign a rate cut could be off the table.
