US Close 9 Feb 16: Nice come back in late trade but DOW still off 178pts.

US sharemarkets tumbled on Monday as persistent concerns about global growth dominated sentiment. However losses did pare back towards the end of trade. All major 10 S&P sectors were lower with the financial sector losing 2.6%. Goldman Sachs fell 4.8%. The tech sector was hit hard with the Nasdaq at one stage falling to its lowest levels since October 2014. The CBOE volatility index rose 9.8%.  At the close of trade the Dow Jones was down by almost 177 points or 1.1% with the S&P 500 index down by 1.4% while the Nasdaq lost 79 points or 1.8%.
