US Close 11 May 16: Markets rallied on hope of stimulus and debt plans last night.

US sharemarkets rallied on Tuesday with a rally in oil prices supporting the energy sector. All 10 major S&P sectors were higher with the energy sector leading the gains (up 1.8%). Amazon jumped 3.4% to a record high after broker upgrades to the stock. The Dow Jones ended higher by 222 points or 1.3%. The S&P 500 index gained 1.3% and the Nasdaq also rose by 1.3%.
