Ellen Burstyn

 Although Ellen Burstyn made her stage debut in the 1950s and also was acting in television and film during the 1960s, she did not have a career breakthrough until "The Last Picture Show" in 1971. She received an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress for her role as a restless, middle-aged housewife. Burstyn won the Academy Award as Best Actress for "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (1975), and her other notable films include "The Exorcist" (1973), "Same Time Next Year" (1978), "Resurrection" (1980) and "Requiem for a Dream" (2000). Widely respected by her fellow actors, Burstyn has served as president of both the Actors Studio and Actors Equity.
