Day 153

Father, 

We praise You for being love itself. We praise You for inventing marriage and sex. You designed them for intimacy and made them beautiful, and they serve as reminders of Your goodness!

But we haven’t viewed them rightly, God, and we repent. We’re all guilty of viewing sex and romantic love either too highly or too lowly. Where we’ve esteemed them too highly and made them the goal and focus of our lives, we repent. Where we’ve viewed them too lowly, we’ve embraced sexual immorality, and we repent of disregarding Your good plan. Whether we’ve believed the lie that sex is dirty or unholy or awakened love before it’s time or looked to sex and human love as the fulfillment of our deepest needs, we repent. And we confess that YOU are our deepest need and our greatest fulfillment.  Have mercy on me, I’m a sinner. We turn FROM our sins TO You and ask You to make our hearts clean. 

We need You to redefine sex for us. To redefine sexuality, love, and relationships for us. You invented it, we twisted it, and we need you to set us straight. Would You rid us of unbiblical or confusing beliefs around intimacy and replace them with Your beautiful truth?

We surrender our lives to You, Lord—every thought and action, every moment of our day, we yield our will and way to Your perfect will and way.
