US Mid-Session 1 Jan 16: Oil back above $31/bl, US markets stronger

Overnight the US markets have rallied higher after a lift in US$ oil prices and strong housing data. The US markets lifted pushing aside the falls in Asia where the Shanghai tumbled 6.4% to its lowest close since December 2014.
