—Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — Hundreds of thousands of customers are without power in the Northeast due to a major storm packing strong winds and heavy rains. PowerOutage-dot-US showed power was knocked out for more than 600-thousand people from Massachusetts up to Maine as of last night.
Two— Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed two supplemental spending bills. Whitmer says the bills total just under 650-million-dollars and will help failing or financially struggling K-12 public school districts and infrastructure needs. Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids says the bills include spending they were unable to get to in the budget process. Whitmer says she believes the budget is sustainable.
And number three — Icelandic authorities are asking people to stay away from an erupting volcano. The eruption sent lava jets hundreds of feet in the air and lit up the sky in the southwestern part of the country Monday night. It was preceded by a series of earthquakes.
