In this episode, I lay out the four main parts of the Bible. These parts explain the story of the Bible and should be the lens in which all scripture is examined. When a verse is taken on its own without consideration to the story of the Bible, it is weaponized and misused. All collections of verses point towards at least one piece of the overall story of the Bible. There aren't many verses that can fulfill the declaration of "the Bible Says." in order for a verse to say this, it must point to all four pieces of the Bible story.
Once you understand what is being said in the Bible narrative, verses begin to make more sense. For instance, John 1 starts with profound theology. When John gets to the point of saying "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can not overcome it." it is a profound understanding of creation and the potential unity of heaven and earth.
Listen to this podcast. And then join me this year as we do a daily reading through the Bible plan. I will follow a reading plan and then give a few thoughts around the readings before praying a blessing over you. Together, let's read the Bible and allow it to draw us into the presence of the living God!
