We defend the undefendable for many on both the left and the right: consumerism. We discuss why environmental criticisms of consumerism fail, why most most religious criticisms of consumerism are either incomplete or contradictory, why hunter gatherers are no better if not worse, and lastly why consumerism has improved human freedom.
