Market Close 19 August 19: Shares rebound with best day in two months

The Aussie sharemarket is rebounding from the heavy selling last week as recession fears ease. The ASX 200 lifted 61.9 points or 0.97% to 6467.4 as banks, IT and energy stocks led gains. Defensive stocks were generally weaker while profit results saw big moves for the likes of Lendlease (LLC) and Bluescope Steel (BSL).
